On the Road: Iceland

Iceland has many moods and faces.  This is a quick sketch in my A4 Moleskine Watercolor Album of Siglufjordur, a scenic fishing village on one of the island's northernmost points.  This was our overnight stop after a five-hour drive from Reykjavik, traversing about half the island's circumference.  More to come...

  4. Iceland now! So much travelling this year. A good friend of mine here in the U.K. tutored a watercolour course there this year .... Keith Hornblower. Think you're already in contact but if not you might like to look up his paintings from the course. Looking forward to seeing more of your''s from there too.

    1. Wow! Not only that, but I'm going back in September 2017 - to Siglufjörður! I'd be interested to hear your take on it Jim.

  5. We enjoyed it thoroughly, Keith--very small place, but beautiful and idyllic. Amazing setting, and stunning scenic drives to get there. We stayed at Hotel Siglo and recommend it highly--great location on the marina, excellent restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff. Good luck!

    1. Thanks Jim; I'm glad you thought it worthwhile. We shall be staying at Siglunes Guest House, by the fjord apparently; they have a room I can use for teaching. I'm looking forward to it!
